Trailing lock
The point where the TMDD breach line stops trailing upward — and it lands in different places at different firms
The TMDD breach line normally trails your account's highest balance upward, but at most firms that climb stops and locks in place once you clear a certain point. Where that lock lands matters in practice. At TakeProfitTrader, the breach line locks once it reaches the starting balance (the "principal") — after that, no matter how high the balance climbs, the line never drops below the starting balance again. At many other firms, the lock triggers once the balance clears the starting size plus a buffer (the safety net). Since the lock point changes how much room you have to give back after locking, don't stop at the TMDD number — check the lock condition too.
